In India, four out of three individuals suffer from piles at least once in their life. Piles is basically the swellings that get developed into the rectum or area around the anal opening. These may be internal, formed in the rectum, or external, formed underneath the skin around the anal opening. Both of them can be prolapsed and bulge out of the anus. Usually, we don’t see anything when noticing the back region of the person having piles, but in case of prolapsed internal piles a discolored rubbery lump would be seen hanging out the anal area or if it is prolapsed external piles, a soft lump on the edge of the anal opening is seen.
Straining during bowel movements, obesity, pregnancy, constipation, having anal intercourse, and eating a low fibre diet can be among the many causes of piles in human beings. In case one is suffering from hemorrhoids, he or she may suffer itching or irritation in the anal region, painful or painless bleeding, discomfort, swelling around the anus, or a lump hanging out of the anal opening may be there.
There are a number of ways hemorrhoids can be diagnosed and treated. Sometimes it doesn’t cause much of the problem but the opposite always exists. Exercising, eating enough fibre, and drinking enough water are a few of the habits that lower the risk of getting piles.
